The samurai touge is then brought their reckless action in urban Japan. They usually drifting on the streets, dock port, closed parking lot and on the circuit every weekend. Drift fans even more and more and competitions (ikaten) began to be held in Japan that many diorganiasi ole Video-OPTION.
In the 1970s, Kunimitsu Takahashi who is a legend of Japanese F1 drivers, get inspiration when he tried the front of his car following the apex (the point at the edge of a curve) with high speed and using the handbrake to follow the curve.
In 2001, Daijiro Inada (founder of Option Magazine and the Tokyo Auto Salon) with Keiichi 'Dorikin' (Drifting King) Tsuchiya (turing and also the drivers 'Mr Drifting Professional') create professional drifting competition series, D1 Grand Prix (D1 GP).

Usually the cars that were derived in a drifting event is weighted cars with mild to moderate type coupe / sedan and uses rear-wheel drive or FR (front engine, rear-wheel-drive) like the Nissan Skyline, Nissan Sylvia, Toyota Mark II Toyota Corolla DX, and Toyota Levin / Sprinter Trueno (AE86). Because the car for this type of power is always distributed by sliding the rear wheels, while the front wheel is used to control the car / drift.
But this time, no denying that the cars that use this type of all wheel drive FA (front engine, all-wheel-drive) Subaru Impreza WRX STI kind and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and the front-wheel drive FF (front engine, front-wheel -drive) will also go down in the drifting scene. The difficulty will be obtained when using a car with front-wheel drive or FF, where power and control at the front wheels so it's rather difficult to conquer a few corners at once.
